Founded in 1850, San Domenico is California's first and oldest independent school. It is recognized as a top ten boarding program in California, and is ranked in the top 4% of all independent schools in America. Set on a bucolic 515-acre campus just north of San Francisco, at SD you will find an innovative program for students K-12, with day and boarding options in the high school. San Domenico is also proud to serve a global student community, welcoming international students from 23 countries around the world.

Along with providing a rigorous college-prep academic program including 126 courses, 27 AP and honor classes, and a nationally ranked STEM program, San Domenico offers its High School students the opportunity to explore additional passions and interests.These include our internationally acclaimed Virtuoso Program in Music and award winning Film, Performing Arts and Visual Arts programs. In addition, SD’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities include a new Olympic-sized competitive swimming and waterpolo facility, gym/fitness center, six tennis courts, and baseball and turf fields. Our one-acre organic Garden of Hope includes an outdoor kitchen and several outdoor meeting spaces. It serves as a relaxing refuge and an outside learning center for San Domenico students and faculty.

Steam Program
San Domenico’s STEAM Program provides multidisciplinary and project-based learning across departments, plus more than 10 AP’s and Honor Courses. STEAM opportunities allow students to take a deeper dive into science, technology, engineering, art, and math, while exploring their interplay and future impact.

Arts Program
With over 42 elective classes, 30 shows and recitals and 35 dedicated faculty across our music, visual art, digital media, theatre and dance departments, SD is committed to helping students explore art as an outlet for personal inquiry, social commentary, self expression or future professional endeavors.
